Experiencing Vigan (Team Promising goes to Vigan)

Visiting Vigan is like going back in time, everything is old, unique and inspiring.

How to go to Vigan

Take a bus from Cubao to Laoag. Ask the bus assistant to drop you off to Vigan. The trip is around 7 to 8 hours. We left Cubao at 10 in the evening and reached Vigan around 4 am. One of the locals said we can wait for the daybreak at the Heritage Village which we did.

We were assured it was safe and indeed it was and is.

Where to stay in Vigan

There are a lot of good places to stay in Vigan and we chose Grandpa's Inn for its good reviews and feedback. We were not disappointed. Grandpa's Inn is also walking distance from Calle Crisologo and the staff are accommodating. They even allowed us to leave our belongings as we wait for our room to be ready. Since we arrived early, we opted to leave our bags with the hotel's staff so we can start our tour without carrying heavy bags.

What to do in Vigan

Tourists spots in Vigan are not far from each other. You can do a tour via 'tricycle' or via 'kalesa' (horse drawn ride). The rate for the tricycle is around P700 to P1000 depending on the negotiation while for the kalesa, it is P150 per hour.

Kalesa for hire!

Visit Chavit's Baluarte

Baluarte is home to some animals like tiger, different species of birds including an ostrich among others. There is no entrance fee here.
we have an ostrich pghotobomber here!

The Hidden Garden

The Hidden Garden consists of different species of plants that you can enjoy looking at. Some are for sale.
The plants are hidden :)

Vigan's Mansions and History

If you are into history, you might enjoy Vigan and its old mansions where everything from the the Crisologos to Padre Burgos are shown in their respected mansions. Staying in hotels will also make you happy since they have a lot of antiques on display.

Welcome to Crissologo's Museum
Imagine joining tour de France with this!
Or cooking with these!
Learn about this wooden refrigerator and how it worked!

Or figure out who's car is this?

Or buy these figures as your souvenirs.

The Bantay Bell Tower

The last leg of our Vigan tour is the Bantay Bell Tower. The tower’s beauty is captivating as well as the history surrounding it.

As we wait for Vigan's dancing fountain show, we stayed around the plaza and found this!

Finally, this is the last thing that Vigan can offer!

So from morning till dawn, Vigan can keep you busy and happy!
