Just an hour away from Quezon City and can be reached via
bus or jeep, Mount Balagbag is one
of the most popular trekking sites near Metro Manila. Commonly referred to as
‘helipad’, the area is known as a bike trail and good place for night camping.
How to go to Mount Balagbag
From Cubao, you can ride a bus going
to Tungko then ride a jeep to Licao-Licao. The jeep will stop at the terminal
which happens to be the jump off site.
From the jump off site, there are stores where you can buy
foods for lunch. As you trek to Mount Maranat, there are few stores along the
way as well that sells water and "merienda."
You can reach Mount
Balagbag Balagbag after 60-90 minute
walk, depending on your speed. For this adventure, the trail is pretty easy and
recognizable hence paying for a tour guide is no longer recommended.

Once your tent is up, take a pic with Mount Balagbag's guardian cat.

While resting, get mesmerized with this.
Then enjoy the cool wind at night, the quietness and this view of City Lights.
In honor of our team leader, the guy who introduced mountaineering to us, the guy who carried our tents and cooked our breakfast, we did this!
Thank You Kuya Clor!!!! |
At Mount Balagbag, sleep in peace and wake up to this:
After Kuya Clor prepared our delicious cheese omelet breakfast, we walked home with smiles and fulfillment. We finally had our first night hike!
