Where to Eat in Legazpi City

Our First Stop/ Photo by Shih Almazan
It was my first time to visit Legazpi City and luckily, a friend of mine is from Sorsogon and a proud alumnus of Bicol University (legazpi City). Prior to leaving Manila, she had suggested a few restaurants and based on our experience, I would like to share the same to anyone looking for the best place to eat in Legazpi.

Small Talk Café

Small Talk Café is a small restaurant. According to my friend, Small Talk used to be a small family run business and the setting was their home. Now, the same thing can still be said about this restaurant except it is too popular now and they have more patrons.

How to find Small Talk Café

If you are in Legazpi City already, ask any jeepneys with Daraga-Legazpi signs if they can drop you at the provincial capitol building or at the Divine Word College of Legaspi. It is just on the left side of Divine.

The most recommended recipe that my friend insisted that I should try was their Laing Pasta and to tell you the truth, it is worth trying. Another best for me is the bottomless drink for only P50!

Budget: P500 to P600 for two people including drinks and dessert.

Big’s Diner

Big’s Diner is just across Divine Word College. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is very affordable. So far, I can say that the steak I ordered is good but not that much.

Budget: P150 per head with no drinks, drinks can be purchased separately

First Colonial Grill

For your merienda cravings, look for Colonial Grill. Colonial Grill is available in Ayala Mall and in Metro Mall. They offer full menu plus pinoy meriendas. Their specialty though is their chili ice cream which is available in different levels of chilliness. I chose level 2 and it is quite fierce – the smell alone almost made me back down but the price made think twice.

DJC Halo-Halo is another highly rated and highly recommended restaurant by my friend. It is near the Legaspi Terminal and a tricycle ride is the best option in going here. I love the Bicol Express that we had for lunch and their famous halo-halo is really a must try.

There are probably more places to visit and restaurants to try in Albay but if you are looking for something special, try these!
