South Batan Tour – Team Promising Goes to Batanes

Just jump and have some fun!
Batanes is such a lovely place that you can stand in the middle of the road and do a jump shot without worrying of getting hit! Then you got that naturally picturesque background - indeed - breathtaking Batanes.

Paderes Point and Cliff Road

South Batan Tour start around 9 in the morning. Our first stop is @ Paderes Point and Cliff Road. No need for words, just look at those pictures :)

Chawa Viewing Deck

You can sit here for a while watch the mountain on your left and the ocean on your right. Breathe in the freshness of Batanes.

Mahatao Boat Shelter Port

Mahatao Boat Shelter is said to be a safe harbor for boats to avoid being carried in the ocean during storm. With its bluish water, this is one amazing view!

San Carlos Borromeo Church

Before we take our lunch, we pass by San Carlos Borromeo Church. This church is also known as Mahatao Church.
Next to Mahatao Church is where you can find their souvenir store where you can also find this library-looking room full of books with empty pages. Batanes travelers can write anything they want in these books hence they call it "Open Book".
The Principal of Open Book Library :)

Mahatao Lighthouse (front view)

This is one of the popular lighthouses in Basco!

North Batan Tour – Team Promising Goes to Batanes

Our North Batan tour started with a lunch at Midtown Inn inclusive of the tour package we availed. The sumptuous lunch is good and was enough to energize us for a day of breathtaking exploration in the northern part of Batan Island.

The Tour

PAGASA “Tukon” Radar Station

After lunch, we started our tour by visiting the typhoon-ruined PAGASA “Tukon” Radar Station. The station was ruined by a typhoon in September, the same typhoon that caused the people to lost internet for the time being. Since September 2016, the locals has very limited access to internet and were told that it will be up by July of 2017.
View from Tukon Radar Station

Fundacion Pacita Nature Lodge

Fundacion Pacita is one of the most recognized places to stay with in Batanes. It is the most expensive as well in terms of lodge and food they offer. Just glad that it was part of our North Batan tour.

@ Fundacion

 Basco Idjang Viewing WWII Japanese

The Japanese tunnel requires walking for 5-10 minutes in the dark. It is a bit challenging as well especially for those who hate darkness.

Inside the Japanese tunnel!

Boulder Beach in Valugan

A beach with long shoreline of big stones and not sand, the Boulder Beach was another picturesque area in Batanes. The stones were said to be from the eruption of Mount Iraya in 400 AD. Walk in these stones while fighting the fiery wind coming from the Pacific Ocean.

Sto. Domingo Cathedral

Located in Basco, Sto Domingo Church one of the biggest churches in Batanes. It is newly renovated as well and is just situated next to Basco’s municipal hall.

Vayang Rolling Hills

Considered as one of the assets of Batanes, feel the strong winds of Vayang Rolling Hills as you let your eyes feast with its awesome terrain.

Basco Lighthouse in Naidi Hills

Our awesome jumpshot :)

The last part of the tour is a climb to the 5-storyhigh Basco Lighthouse in Naidi Hills. Get a full view of Basco while on top.
On our way to the top!

Sunset Viewing

A few steps from the lighthouse is another green pasture facing the ocean where the sun sets. Get an awesome view of the sunset as you feel the cold wind caressing your face.
