$3.5 M to have lunch with Billionaire Warren Buffet

With so many things being auctioned now a day in the name of charities and fund raising, it’s no surprise to have one bidder end up paying $3.5 million to be able to dine with Nebraska billionaire Warren Buffet. This annual event has been one of the most waited activities in the business world and it last Friday’s result was a record breaking bidding after closing in at $3,456,789.
In the past 13 years, the total amount this auction raised has been $11.5M and it benefits Glide Foundation, a foundation that helps the homeless and poor of San Francisco.
According to Glide Foundation founder, Reverend Cecil Williams, the winner of this year’s auction wants to be anonymous. He said that 10 people joined the auctions that led to the record breaking bid.
Warren Buffet started his fortune after building the Berkshire Hathaway and started to help Glide Foundation after being introduced to it by his wife. According to Buffet, whenever he has these lunches, he is surprised that most of the winners don’t actually ask about business. These lunches normally lasts a few hours. Buffet and the winner regularly dines at Smith and Wollensky steak house in New York. Being the official restaurant to host the winner’s lunch, the restaurant also gives out $10,000 to Glide Foundation.
