Bob Welch, one of the first and original of the band Fleetwood Mac
and had a successful solo career left a suicide note and killed himself
with a gun inflicted wound last Thursday in his Nashville residence.
Welch was found by his wife dead with a chest wound.
The unexplained reason for suicide was questioned by Mick Fleetwood
noting that it is unlikely for Welch to commit the act. He said Welch
is an intelligent and a humorous person and this act is not so him. This
year alone, Welch is the second member of the Fleetwood Mac band who
passed away after their former guitarist Bob Weston died last January. He died of gastrointestinal haemorrhage in London. He was 64 while Welch is 66.
Bob Welch launched a solo career in 1977 and produced hits like
Sentimental Lady, Ebony Eyes and Hot Love, Cold World. In 1994, he sued
his band mates from Fleetwood Mac for unpaid royalties. The group in
return excluded him thus he was not included when the band was inducted
at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Bob Welch was a guitarist and also a vocalist for the Fleetwood Mac for 4 years.
