Following the announcement of
nominees and questions as to why Ben Affleck’s directorial talent was snubbed
by Oscars with his movie “Argo”, the 2013 Golden Globe finally announced the
winners on Sunday Night giving Affleck some form of vindication.
Ben Affleck took home the biggest
victories from Golden Globe as he received the Best Director and Best Picture
(Drama) for his movie. Les Miserables on the other hand took the Best Picture,
Musical/Comedy.
As expected, Daniel-Day Lewis won
the best actor award for his movie “Lincoln” while Jennifer Lawrence (yes the
one from Hunger Games) won best actress for comedy/musical for the movie Silver
Lining Playbook. For best actress drama, Jessica Chastain took it home for Zero
Dark Thirty. The X-men hunk Hugh Jackman won the best actor comedy/musical
award for his portrayal of Jean Valjean taking the award from Bradley Cooper. Other
award won by Les Miserables includes best supporting actress for Anne Hathaway
while Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor for Django Unchained.
As expected, Amour, a French
movie about endless love won the best Foreign Language Film while Brave won the
best animated film award. Adele’s “Skyfall” won the best original song as well.
For television, Golden Globe
awards winners include best drama series for Homeland (Showtime) with Claire
Danes and Damian Lewis taking home the best actor and best actress award, both
from the same series.
The 2013 Golden Globe awards were
hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
