Experiencing Mount Maculot (Team Promising goes to Mount Maculot)

Team Promising @ the Rockies!

Mount Maculot is one of the most accessible mountain from the Metro. It is also a favorite destination among hiking enthusiasts because of its easy terrain and cool views at the Rockies.

Welcome to Mount Maculot
How to go to Mount Maculot
Located in Cuenca, Batangas, you can ride a bus liner from Cubao going to Lemery, Batangas. Ask the conductor to drop you off to Cuenca public market. The fare is about P150. Then ask a tricycle to drop you off to the jump site. The pay is P20 per head.
We survive Mount Maculot
Prior to an accident involving a lone camper who died in Mount Maculot, tour guide was not mandatory. But since the accident, you will now have to pass a military post where a tour guide will be provided. Tour guide fee is P400 for a five person group. If you opt for a night hike, you will have to pay your guide twice.
This is what I am talking about!
What to gain?
Mount Maculot is known for its three parts, its grotto, the Rockies and the summit. The Rockies is the most popular among hikers because of its stunning view of the Taal Lake. Seasoned hikers are the one aiming for the summit and the grotto but for newbies like us, the Rockies is great enough.

The Day hike
Traversing Mount Maculot will only take 1 hour for seasoned hikers while newbies can do it in 2-3 hours’ time. Along the trail are local selling drinks and buko juice. At the top of the Mount Maculot (near the Rockies), there is also a “sari-sari” store where you can buy anything. It is in the heart of the campsite. The price is a bith high considering the distance they have to walk to bring their goods though. It is still best to bring your own water if you can.
